During the week prior to your surgery, a Pre-Admissions nurse will be contacting you to review your health history, including all vitamins, medications, previous surgeries, other conditions and more. This information will be reviewed by an anesthesiologist so that he or she may be able to adequately plan for your care. The nurse will also advise you as to which medications need to be stopped when and when you need to stop eating and drinking prior to your procedure. If you receive a voicemail from the Pre-Op nurse, please call back as soon as possible. This review must occur prior to your date of service so as to avoid cancellation of your procedure.
Your surgeon or the anesthesiologist may order lab work, EKG or xrays to ensure your safety during the procedure. You may be asked to go to an outside laboratory or you primary care physician for these tests. It is best to have these tests done at least 3 days prior to your scheduled procedure date.
